Jasmine for Treasurer
Accuracy

I want residents to receive accurate information about what they need to complete their transaction, including the documents and steps required and the taxes or fees that may apply. I also want employees to have current information so they can accurately answer questions, including those involving transactions they may not handle every day.

In my current position, I have corrected more than 2,500 motor vehicle tax districts. Some involved vehicles within Lincoln city limits that had been assigned to the wrong district. Others involved vehicles being treated as inside or outside the city limits incorrectly. Those differences can affect wheel tax as well as where motor vehicle tax revenue is distributed.

Depending on where a vehicle is located, that revenue may be distributed among the city, county, school district, fire district, community college, natural resources district, and other local taxing entities.

My goal is to make sure the information being used is current and that tax revenue is distributed to the appropriate jurisdictions.
